- The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library Resource Network (ATSILRN) originated in November 1993. It was one of the recommendations to come out of the Gathering and Sharing Workshop held at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. In 1995 the name was changed to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library and Information Resource Network, ATSILIRN.
In November 1999 ATSILIRN acquired an Australian Business Number (ABN) and registered for GST. Then, in September 2000 ATSILIRN became incorporated in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
